Pamela Curtis Ewton, 59, of Chattanooga died on Thursday, Dec. 6, 2012 at Erlanger Health Systems.She was an avid reader and loved music. She was a member of the Lakeview High School class of 1971 where she was head majorette and a member of the State Champion Swing Band; and a graduate of the University of Georgia. She taught science and home economics at Eastbrook Jr. High School in Dalton, Georgia from 1975 until 1980, and was named Teacher of the Year in 1980. In 1981, Pamela joined CNN in Atlanta where she hosted segments that spotlighted industry and the community. In 1983, Pamela became director of sales for Peterson Outdoor Group, where she was the Top Salesperson for 1983, 1984, and 1985. In 1987, she joined her family's company, The Curtis Products Gum and Candy Company, where she was vice-president and National Marketing Director. Her contributions to the company contributed to the near doubling of gross sales. In 1991, she became President of CAPA, Inc; in 1995 she became chief partner of Candy Co, LLC. In 2004, Pamela became the Area Sales Supervisor for Rock City and Ruby Falls Outdoor Advertising. She was a member of Fort Oglethorpe First Baptist Church, the Chattanooga Pilot Club, Legends For Youth, the Delta Gamma Sorority, and a delegate to the International Conference for Women. She was active in the United States Marine Corps Toys for Tots Campaign, and because this organization was dear to her heart, the family suggests that memorials be made to it. She was preceded in death by her father, Roy L. Curtis, in 1979; her grandparents, Leonard and Stella Curtis and George and Ruby Palmer.Pamela is survived by her husband, Col. Thomas Dale Ewton USMC Retired; her mother, Evelyn Curtis Hays; her step-sons, Thomas Dale "Chip" Ewton Jr., and Houston Tad (Becky) Ewton; her brother, Michael (Lynn) Curtis; her nephews, Brant Curtis of Atlanta, Chad (Tammy) Curtis, and Nathan (Lisa) Curtis all of Alpharetta; and many friends. The funeral service will be conducted on Tuesday, Dec. 11, at 11:30 a.m. in the chapel of Heritage Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Stitts officiating.The committal service will follow at Chattanooga National Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday, Dec. 10, from 4 until 8 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home, 7454 East Brainerd Road.
