Bob Ray "Pookie" Stephens, 81, of Chattanooga, went to be with the Lord on Monday, Dec. 17, 2012, from a local healthcare center.He was a member of Bayside Baptist Church.Bob, was born in Sinking Cove, Tenn., and resided in Franklin County for several years before moving to Chattanooga in the early 80s. He loved to travel to National Parks and Historical sites. He had a love for nature, animals and gardening.He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Ellis and Ethel Champion Stephens; one daughter, Velma Marie Stephens; former wife, Juanita Hughes Stephens; two brothers, J.D Stephens and Earl Stephens; two sisters, Nellie Evans and Evelyn Roark.He is survived by his three daughters, Paula (Paul) Hurt, Sharon Stephens Vess and Daphne Stephens; special friend, Lois May; four grandchildren, Michael Sutherland, Quentin Stephens, Chauncey Vess and Leslie Vess (Brent) Mahoney; four great-grandchildren, Blake Sutherland, Chase Stephens, Eris Stephens and Davin Vess; and other extended family.The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. today at the Highway 58 Chapel of Turner Funeral Home or you may visit the online guestbook @ www.turnerfamilyfuneralhome.comFuneral service will be held at noon EST on Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2012, in the funeral home chapel with the Rev.
