Bob Capps

Robert J. "Bob" Capps, 81, of Chattanooga, passed away Sunday, Dec. 16, 2012, at his home.He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and of the Korean Conflict as well as six years serving in the Reserves. He was a member of McFarland United Methodist Church and the American Legion. He was an avid gardener, carpenter, home builder, businessman, devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was an amazing person who impacted all those who came in contact with him.He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Melva Douglas Capps; granddaughter, Faith Ann Capps; and two sisters, Evelyn Shay and Marcine Detleff.Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Beverly Capps; two daughters, Bonnie Azcona and Becky Capps; three grandchildren, Arianna, Emma and Austin Robert Azcona; and fraternal twin brother, Albert (Janne) Capps.Condolences may be sent to www.lane-southcrestchapel.com.Memorial services will be held at noon on Friday, Dec. 21, 2012, at the McFarland United Methodist Church 101 E. Gordon Avenue, Rossville, with Pastor Matt Hampton officiating.Inurnment will follow at Chattanooga National Cemetery at 1:30 p.m. with Military Honors.The family will receive friends on Friday from 10 a.m. until funeral time at the Church.Arrangements by the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home and Crematory located at the end of Historic Missionary Ridge, Rossville.
