Jr.FORT OGLETHORPE Fred B. Brewer Jr., died Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2012 in a local hospital. He was a longtime resident of Fort Oglethorpe and was retired from W. R. Grace Company as the Warehouse Supervisor. Mr. Brewer served honorably in the U.S. Army for three years during the Korean Conflict and Occupation of Germany, receiving the Defense Medals and the occupation of Germany medals among others. He attended Chattanooga schools, graduated from Kirkman Tech., and attended Chattanooga State after the war. Mr. Brewer was a longtime member of Westside Baptist Church where he was a member of the Auditorium and Carl Edmondson Sunday School Class. He held many positions with the church. He was a disabled veteran and a life member of the Disabled American Veterans. Mr. Brewer was a member of the American Legion and worked for DAV at the V.A. Center in Chattanooga after he retirped. He built golf clubs for Arnold Palmer personally for 13 years and was his General Foreman for the Arnold Palmer Company.He was married to the love of his life that he knew since Junior High School, Nellie Joyce Childress Brewer for 56 years. Other survivors include children, Tina Joyce (Gary) Jennings, Molly Malinda (Robert) Treacy and Michael Glen (Sally) Brewer; grandchildren, Tara (Brian) Benvie, Amanda Jennings, and Hayden Brewer; step-grandson, Jason (Sherry) Jennings; great-granddaughter, Ryleigh Benvie; step-great-granddaughter, Annsley.Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. today in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Gary Moore officiating.
