, Sr.Willie R. Hines, Sr., "Sonny" 77, of Chattanooga, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2012, at the Hospice Care Center. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and United States Army. He was formerly employed by TVA and was a longstanding car salesman. He was the first African-American to appear in a television advertisement in Chattanooga. He was a faithful and devoted member of the Shepherd Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his parents, E.C. and Mary Hines, Sr.; brothers, E.C., Jr., Clyde and Jerome Hines; sister, Ernestine Potter. Survivors include his devoted wife, Sibley P. McCleskey Hines; sons, Willie R. Hines, Jr. "Butch" and Torrey L. Hines both of Chattanooga; daughter, Michelle Hines (David) Johnson; grandchildren, Devin and Dominic Johnson all of Los Angeles, Calif.; brothers, Earl (Sandra) Hines, Cecil Hines both of Chattanooga and Abdul Jalal (Saleema) Karim'Vey "Moedie" of Wilmington, Del.; uncle, Richmond Hines, of Chattanooga; a host of nieces; nephews; cousins; other relatives and friends. Visitation is today from 6-8 p.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Sunday, Dec. 23, at 2 p.m. in the chapel with Brother Michael Ludy as the officiant and Brother John R. Taylor, Sr. as the eulogist. Burial: Monday, Dec. 24, at 10:30 a.m. in Chattanooga National Cemetery.
