Janet Herster

Janet M. Herster, 93, passed away at the home of her son in Chattanooga, on Monday, Dec. 10, 2012.She was the widow of Edward J. Herster.She is survived by her beloved son, James (Susan); son-in-law, Thomas Gary, of Houston, Texas; and beloved son-in-law, Donald Blanks, of Soddy-Daisy.Her beloved daughters, Judy Gary and Joanne Blanks predeceased her.She is also survive by the following grandchildren, Thomas (Lynette) Gary, of Houston, Daniel (Natalie) Gary, of Houston, Michael Gary, of Houston, Jimmy and Peter (Mary) Blanks, of Chattanooga. She will be missed by her great-grandchildren, Alex, Morgan and Tyler Gary, of Houston and Joseph Gary, also of Houston.She was born July 30, 1919 in Easton, Pa., to Reuben and Hazel Harr Follweiler and lived in Phillipsburg, N.J., Wilson Borough, Pa., and Cedar Grove, N.J. before moving to Chattanooga in 1971. She and her husband had celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on April 6, 1990.Cremation was private and there will be a memorial service at Tyner United Methodist Church in Chattanooga on Jan. 14, 2013.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Tyner Church.Please share your memories at ChattanoogaValleyViewChapel.com.Arrangements are by the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory & Florist, 7414 Old Lee Highway.
