Dewey Manning

Dewey Manning, 91, of East Ridge and faithful member of Greenslake Road Church of Christ, peacefully passed away Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2012.He attended Chattanooga High School and served honorably in the U.S. Navy during the Second World War. Dewey was a loving husband, father, brother, father-in-law, and grandfather. He was also an accomplished athlete and Golden Gloves Champion while at Chattanooga High.Dewey was preceded in death by his mother Beulah German; wife Evelyn Manning; son David Manning; daughter Karen Kidwell and husband Roger Kidwell and their son Steven; daughter Rebeca (Becky) Graham; and brother Jim Manning, of Concord, Calif.Survivors include son Richard (Sherry) Manning; brother Harry (Helen) Manning, of Ormond Beach, Fla.; daughter-in-law Martha (David, deceased) Manning, and numerous nieces, nephews and grandchildren.Dewey generously donated his body to the University of Tennessee Health Science Center to aid in the furtherance of medical study and science.With sadness of his passing and celebration of his life he will be remembered, missed, and loved by many, and with certainty returns the same to us all.No memorial services are planned.
