heelousArburner Childress-Wheelous departed this life on Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2012. She was born on Sept. 8, 1918 She confessed Christ at an early age and joined the Acklin C.M.E. Church in Gurley, Ala. Upon moving to Chattanooga, she joined Olivet Baptist Church and was an honorary member of the Usher Board and a member of the Mothers Board.She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Childress; son Bobby Childress, husband Charles Robert Wheelous; siblings Panzie Hawkins, Thomas Dan Childress, John Henry Childress, Annie Hogan, Mary-Jo Crutcher, Mattie Lee Acklin, and Beulah (James) Clark; Sister-in-law Charzie May Moore;She is survived by her sister Tressie Teresa Kennemer, Gurley, Ala.; four grandchildren, Anthony Childress, Chiniqua Childress-Clemons of Atlanta, Georgia, Direnke Rutledge, and Alfred Barnes (Elaine Hayes- Mother), of Chattanooga, Tenn.; two great grandchildren, Bianca Clemons and Harvey Dion Clemons, Atlanta, Ga.; five great-great grandchildren, Darian Clemons, Brailen Clemons, Messiah Clemons, Naveah Clemons, and Trewh Clemons. Daughter-in law, Mildred Jones of Atlanta, Ga.; Sister-in-law Alice Childress, Niece Allison Childress, Garner and Berry Childress, Chattanooga, Tennessee; Mary Johnson of Huntsville, Ala.; and a host of nieces, nephews and neighbors, and dear friends the Hixsons and Palmer families.She is also survived by Sister-in Laws and Brother-in Laws, Janie (Henry) Palmer; Katie (Hubert) Jackson; Lula Mae (Wilbert) McLean; Carrie (Robert) Dallas, Ellis (Elizabeth) Johnson; Mary G. Johnson, Chattanooga, Tenn., and Lois Marks (Nashville), James (Janet) Johnson and Willie (Marilyn) Johnson (Virginia).Services will be held at 9 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 31, at Olivet Baptist Church. Interment - National Cemetery.The body will lie in state after noon today at John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Avenue, 622-9995.
