Jean Greenwalt

Jean L. Greenwalt, 89, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 20, 2012, in Royse City, Texas, after a brief illness. A native of Giard, Oh., Jean was a long-time resident of Chattanooga, Tenn., where she and her parents, Ocheanna Jackson and Donald C. Shaw moved during WWII. Later after the war, her beloved husband, James L. "Jim" Greenwalt, Sr., joined them in the family business. Jim and Jean were married on Feb. 12, 1942, in Warren, Oh., and were married for 63 years. She was member of the Order of the Eastern Star of Chattanooga, Tennessee.She was preceded in death by her parents, Ocheanna Jackson and Donald C. Shaw and her husband, James "Jim" Greenwalt, Sr.Survivors include a son, James L. Greenwalt, Jr. and wife, Joy, Rockwall, Texas; two granddaughters Lauren C. Farr and husband, Chad , Chattanooga, and Julia B. Ferris and husband, James of Round Rock, Texas; great-grandchildren, Elaina Claire Henry-Mount, Myles Vincent Farr, Chattanooga, Julia Bronwyn Ferris, and Jocelyn Blythe Ferris, Round Rock, Texas. Additionally, she is survived by three sisters-in-law, Frances Greenawalt, Indianapolis, Ind., Marjorie Griffing, Brookfield, Oh., and Joan Fosaaen and husband, Marvin, Georgetown, Fla.A private family memorial service will be held and interment will be in Hamilton Memorial Gardens, Chattanooga.Any remembrances may be made to a church or charity of choice.Please share your thoughts and memories at www.chattanoogaeastchapel.com.Chattanooga Funeral Home East Chapel in charge of arrangements.
