E Charles

tKNOXVILLE Dr. E. Charles Sienknecht Jr., 94, passed away on Friday, Feb. 24, 2012. He was born in Anderson County in 1917 and was a graduate of McCallie School in Chattanooga, UT Knoxville, UT College of Medicine, Memphis. Charles was a Diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine, Fellow of the American College of Physicians, member of the Knoxville Academy of Medicine, Tennessee Medical Association, and the American Medical Association. He was the past president of the Knoxville Academy of Medicine, Chief of staff of Fort Sanders and St. Marys Hospitals. Charles was a member of Sequoyah Hills Presbyterian Church, Cherokee Country Club and 30 year member of the Downtown Rotary Club. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer C. and Mattie Gallaher Sienknecht and his first wife, Margaret Willson. Charles is survived by his wife, Ita Ray McNabb; son, Dr. Charles W. (Buzz) Sienknecht, of Chattanooga; daughters, Martha Trainer, of Sneedville, Ann Humbracht, of Franklin, and Meg Crawford, of Knoxville; step-daughter, Caroline Napier, of Franklin; grandchildren, Eric, Jason, and Mattie Sienknecht, Robert, John, and Margaret Humbracht, Charlie and Allen Crawford; step-grandchildren, Emily and Joe Napier, and Darian and Amelia McBrayer. Memorial Service: 2 p.m. Monday at Sequoyah Hills Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Dr. L. Holton Siegling Jr., the Rev. Dr. Michael V. Stanfield, and the Rev. Mark D. Lampley officiating. The family will receive friends following the memorial service. Interment will be private.
