Johnnie Byrd

Johnine ByrdRINGGOLD Johnine Flo Young Byrd, died on Saturday, July 21, 2012 at Erlanger Hospital. She was surrounded by her family as she departed this earthly life for her eternal home in heaven. Johnine was the youngest daughter of John and Charity Young; brothers, Edgar, Summerfield, Ernest, Roy, James and Harold; and sisters, Viola, Louise Young and Alice Huskey; and son, Donald Jr. preceded her in death.She is survived by her husband, Donald Byrd and just celebrated 60 years of marriage on July 1, 2012; daughter, Kathi (Robert) Nease; grandson, Heath Williams; granddaughter, Kristin (Randy) Overton; great-granddaughter, Natalie Overton; stepgranddaughter, Erin Nease; stepgreat-grandsons. Matthew and Daniel Overton; sister-in-law, Frances Young, many nieces and nephews. Johnine, or simply Mommaw as she was called by many, lived an abundant life of 82 years and loved serving others. In lieu of flowers, she would be honored to know that you would chose to bless her favorite organizations Christ Chapel in Ringgold, Constructors for Christ, and Chattanooga Community Kitchen. Johnine graduated as the valedictorian of the Class of 1947 from Ringgold High School & Edmondson Business College. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Lydia Sunday School Class, and WMU. She was a church secretary for 25 years while they lived in different states while Donald served in the U.S. Coast Guard. Since their retirement she has enjoyed being involved with Habitat for Humanity and the Fashion Shows, Constructors for Christ, Ringgold Chapter #245 Order of Eastern Star, and volunteering in the office at Ringgold First Baptist Church.Visitation will be at Ringgold First Baptist Church from 1-3 p.m. Sunday, July 29.Her family would love for you to join them for the memorial service to at 3 p.m.Interment will follow at Lakewood Memorial Garden, South.Arrangements are by the Ringgold Chapel of Wilson Funeral Homes, Ringgold.
