Carlton Farmer

ROSSVILLE Carlton J. Farmer, 92, went home to his Lord and Savior Saturday, June 2, 2012.Mr. Farmer was raised in Adairsville Ga. area but has lived in the Chattanooga and North Ga. area for most of his life.He was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and was a Navy veteran of WWII, where he was a trainer for the Seabees. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and was a member of the Tompkins Masonic Lodge #466 F&AM. Mr. Farmer was a professional sign painter for most of his life and included such clients as, Sterchi Brothers, a furniture based chain in Knoxville Tenn., the Kayo Oil Company, Raceway Oil Company and he also painted the outfield advertising wall at the famous Engle Stadium. He was also employed with Lookout Mountain Tennessee Police Department before retiring in 1992 after more than 14 years of service as a Deputy.He was preceded in death by his mother, Phenie C. Odom Farmer and his father, Bascomb P. Farmer; twin sisters, Madge Whitfield and Grace Bennett; two brothers, Boyd Farmer and John Farmer.Survivors include, his loving wife of more than 69 years, Ruth White Farmer, of Rossville, Ga.; sons and daughters-in-law, Joel D. and (Sherry) Farmer, of Rossville, Ga. and Gary R. and (Connie) Farmer, of Flintstone, Ga.; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday June 5, in the Fort Olgethorpe Chapel of Wilson Funeral Home.The family will begin receiving friends after 5 p.m. today and prior to the service on Tuesday at the funeral home.Arrangements by W.L.
