Richard Craig

GREENVALLEY Richard "Ricky" W. Craig, of Green Valley, Ariz., formerly of Chattanooga, Tenn., passed away Tuesday May 29, 2012 at the University of Arizona Hospital at the age of 58. He was born July 24, 1953 in Chattanooga, Tenn.Mr. Craigs training as a career service member in the United States Army was reflected by his leadership among his family, friends and community. He was well respected and left an impact on everyone he met. He retired as a Sergeant First Class with more than 20 years of active military service. He also held civilian positions supervising heavy equipment maintenance operations.He was a member of the American Legion Post 131 in Green Valley and showed his support for military personnel as a member in the National Association for Uniformed Services (NAUS).Mr. Craig liked to spend his time enjoying camaraderie on the golf course.He was preceded in death by his father, Floyd Craig.Survivors include his loving and supportive wife, Janice Turner Craig; mother, Opal Montine Craig, in Chattanooga, Tenn.; son, Daniel Craig, in Frisco, Texas; daughter, Julia Ballard, in Goodlettesville, Tenn.; stepson, Robert Turner, in McKinney, Texas; and stepdaughter, Amanda Turner-Baggarly, in Green Valley, Ariz.; brothers, Robert Craig, in Fredericksburg, Va., and Mark Craig in Greenville, S.C.; sisters, Candace Walton, in Dillard, Ga., and Teresa Craig, in Greenville, S.C.Funeral services will be held Tuesday June 5, at 10:30 a.m. in the East Ridge Baptist Church with Dr. Ronnie Mitchell officiating. Interment with full military honors will follow in the Chattanooga National Cemetery.The family will receive friends a the funeral home Sunday from 3-5 p.m. and at the church Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.Please share your thoughts and memories at www.chattanoogaeastchapel.com
