FORT OGLETHORPE Newell Reed, 70, departed this life Monday, June 4, 2012 at his home.He was born in Dayton, Tenn., to the late James Arthur and Azzie Reed. He retired from Chattanooga Truck Parts after 25 years of service and attended Spring Creek Church of God in East Ridge. Newell enjoyed fishing and gardening.Survivors include his loving wife of 49 years, Carol Reed, of Fort Oglethorpe; children, Keith Reed, of Chickamauga, Randall (Debbie) Reed, of Rossville; sister, Joyce (Dave) Harris, of California; grandchildren, Shawn and Felicia; and nephew, Jeff Harris. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Friday, June 8, 2012 in the chapel with Pastor Donnie Fine officiating.Interment will follow in Lakewood Memory Gardens-South.Family will receive friends after 4 p.m. today, and all day Thursday at the funeral home. Arrangements are by W.L. Wilson & Sons Funeral Home-Fort Oglethorpe.
