George Jennings

George Andrew Jennings, 92, of East Ridge, died Saturday June 16, 2012.He was born Jan. 8, 1920, in Chattanooga to the late James Ruben and Jessie Laura Jennings.Mr. Jennings was a member of Jones Memorial United Methodist Church. He was a World War II Army veteran serving in the South Pacific. He was employed as Circulation Director with the Chattanooga News-Free Press for 45 years. Mr. Jennings loved fishing and especially going to Florida fishing. He enjoyed cooking and baking bread. His specialty was rolls for Sunday dinners with his family. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge.Survivors include his wife of 72 years, Mary Jennings; daughters, Lynette (Ed, deceased) Crowe, Elaine (Edward) Ross and Jane (Larry) Sewell; five grandchildren, Shelley Williams, Jeff Crowe, Scott Ross, Kelley Weathers and Eric Sewell; nine great-grandchildren, Zachary Quintrell, Ian Crowe, Levi Crowe, Parker Jennings Ross, Paxton Ross, Hayden Sewell, Aubrey Sewell, Madelyn Weathers and Abbey Weathers.Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. today, June 19, at Forest Hills Cemetery.Memorial donations may be made to Jones Memorial United Methodist Church, 4131 Ringgold Road, East Ridge, TN 37412.Please share your thoughts and memories at www.chattanoogaeastchapel.com.The family wishes to thank Amedisys Hospice staff for their loving care.
