Carl McKaig

Sr.Carl J. McKaig Sr., 75, of East Ridge, died Sunday, June 17, 2012, at his home.A lifelong resident of Hamilton County, Mr. McKaig was retired from TVA as a public safety office after 17 years of service. He was formerly employed with the East Ridge Police Department as a detective and was one of the first security officers at Memorial Hospital.He was a veteran of the US Army serving in Korea/Vietnam and was a member of East Lake Masonic Lodge #698.Mr. McKaig was of the Baptist faith and was preceded in death by two sons, Darrell McKaig and Ernest Brian McKaig.Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Phyllis McCarson McKaig; daughter, Sherry (Danny) Shaw, Jacksonville, Fla.; son, Carl J. "Jerry" McKaig Jr., East Ridge; daughter-in-law, Renee McKaig, Chattanooga; five grandchildren, Katie Shaw, Lindsey Walker, Jessica Merciers, Carl J. "Jeremy" McKaig III and James Brian McKaig; six great-grandchildren; special niece, Patti Edge, Chattanooga; and several other nieces and nephews.Services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home chapel with Rev.
