Lloyd Taylor

JASPER James Walter Lloyd Taylor, 92, died at his home on Friday, March 9, 2012.Son of the late Charles Steadman and Anna Belle Helton Taylor, he was a graduate of Clinton High School in Oklahoma, and attended Fresno State and California State University. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII, having served as a PFC Medic. He spent his career counseling and teaching vocational education courses in California and Oregon schools and retired to Jasper, Tenn., in 1988. He was a member of the Jasper Church of Christ, the Retired Teachers Association and had been a frequent contributor to the Jasper Journal. He was preceded in death by wife, Lula Teeters Taylor and his son, Joseph Ray Taylor.Mr. Taylor is survived by his sons, James Michael Taylor, of Fort Worth, Texas, and John Wayne Taylor, of Athol, Idaho; 15 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; sister, Lula Mae Hanes, of Texas; and longtime, loving and dedicated caregiver and friend, Sherry Griffith.Funeral services will be held at the Jasper chapel of Rogers Funeral Home at 1 p.m. Central Time on Monday, March 12, 2012, officiated by Tim Partlow. Interment with military honors provided by the Sequatchie Valley Honor Guard will be in Pine Grove Cemetery in Jasper, Tenn.Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 3 p.m.6 p.m. Central Time today, March 11, 2012.In lieu of flowers, memorial Contributions may be sent to a charity of your choice.Condolences may be sent by visiting www.rogersfuneralhome.com.
