Sonja Price

SPRING CITY Sonja Ann Price, 71, died Wednesday, March 21, 2012, at her residence.A lifetime resident of Rhea County, Sonja was the daughter of the late George and Mable Clayton Wilkey. She and her husband, Ralph, started the IGA Grocery Store in 1977, the Piggly Wiggly in 1986 and now own the Cash Saver Grocery Store in 2009, all in Spring City. Sonja was member of Wolf Creek Baptist Church and the Ester Sunday School Class. Sonja taught Sunday school for 40 years and also sang in the Ladies' Ensemble. She loved her family and her church. Sonja had a way of making everyone feel special.She was preceded in death by her brothers, Carroll, Arnold, Billy Joe and Donavon Ralph "Bucky" Wilkey. Survivors include her husband of almost 54 years, Ralph Price of Spring City; children Steve (Carmen) Price, of Spring City, Connie (Billy Ray) Keylon, of Spring City, Angie (James) Ward, of Etowah and David Madewell, of Spring City; brother, Willis (Linda) Wilkey, of LaFayette, Ga.; sisters, Eva Owens, of Acworth, Ga., Wilma (Bill) Carlton, of Dayton and twin sister Sue Price, of Spring City; grandchildren Lindsay (Derrick) Shaver, Jennifer (Johnny) Forgey, David (Ashley) Madewell, Elise (Dustin Gilliam) Keylon, Jessica (Tanner) Gothard, Leah Price, and Caleb and Cassidy Price; great-grandchildren, Peyton and Brady Williams, Wyatt Gothard and Lincoln Madewell; and several nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Wolf Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Paul Forgey officiating: The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service at the church.
