Jerry Dee Scudgins, 64, of Soddy-Daisy, passed away Wednesday, May 2, 2012.He was a lifelong resident of the Chattanooga area and was of the Baptist faith.Jerry retired from the Chattanooga Police Department in 2001 after serving 28 years, the last 10 years as detective supervisor of the Burglary and Robbery Division. Jerry was also a member of the Alhambra Shriners, serving in the Provost Unit and was a member of the Dasiy Masonic Lodge. Jerry was a dedicated and loving husband, father and grandfather who will be greatly missed.Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Willie Houston and Cecil Marie Rae Scudgins; daughter, Davona Green; grandson, Hayden Mullins; great-granddaughter, Alaina Skidmore; and brother, Bobby Scudgins.He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Neida Scudgins; daughters, Tammy (Chip) Hills, of Red Bank and Kathy Scudgins (Jamie Garrett), of Rossville; sister, Doris Gass, of Rossville; brother, Freddie Scudgins, of Lousiana; grandchildren, Christopher Skidmore, Tia Skidmore, Hunter Presnell, Hailey Mullins and Brenden Mullins; great-grandchildren, Alisha Skidmore and one baby on the way; and several nieces and nephews.The family will receive friends from 3 to 9 p.m. Saturday, May 5, 2012, at the funeral home.
