Dorothy Straughn

Dorothy Brewer Straughn, 87, died Friday, May 11 at a local hospital. Dot was an active member of Brainerd Church of Christ, where she was a Sunday School Teacher for many years. She taught music at Boyd-Buchanan school and numerous piano students as well.She was preceded in death by her husband, Dale Straughn Sr. and parents, Robert L. and Ruth Brewer.Survivors include her sons, Dale Jr. (Linda), David (Karen) and Paul (Connie); grandchildren, Lori, Jared, Alan and Nathan Straughn, Kerra Williams, John Nowlin, Ginger Holton and Gena Schmahl; and 11 great-grandchildren; brothers Robert (Anne) Brewer Jr and Charles (Evelyn) Brewer; and sister-in-law, Alice (Quentin) Clark.The family will receive friends today, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the East Chapel.
