Lucille Malone

Lucille Malone, 90, of Chattanooga, departed this life Wednesday, May 16, 2012 at a local hospital. Mrs. Malone was the first Black Woman Professional Barber in the Chattanooga Area. Owner and operator of the Green Light Barber Shop. She was very active in the Washington Hills Community, pioneer of Washington Hills Garden Club. Caregiver to many families in need of assistance for their loved ones. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church on E. Eighth Street, and devoted member of the Ladies Guild. Prior to her brief illness, she worked with the City of Chattanooga Commodity Program and Political Voting Process in her district.Mrs. Malone was preceded in death by her parents, Georgia Bridges Favors and John Henry Favors; Husband, Samuel L. Malone; Siblings, Lula Mae Favors, Mae Lizzie Hughes, Lois F. Robinson, John H. and Annie Bell Favors, Mattie and Albert Favors, Kathryn and J.B. Favors, Louise and Albert Favors.She leaves to cherish her memory, sister Katye Pollard, Cleveland, OH.; Host of cousins, Nieces, Nephews, grand, great-grand, great-great-grand nieces and nephews; Many dear friends and neighbors.Graveside services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday May 22, at Chattanooga National Cemetery with Rev. William Terry Ladd III officiating.The body will lie in state after 1:30 p.m. today at Trammell Chapel, Hardwick & Sons Funeral Home, 913 E. M.L. King Boulevard.
