Billy Chambers

CHICKAMAUGA Billy "Bill" Chambers, 77, died Wednesday, May 23, 2012.Bill was a member of The First Church of God in LaFayette, and a avid fisherman.Bill started a working career at Wade Brown Furniture Co. in the upholstery department. Then he worked for Gilman Paper Mill in St. Marys, Ga., the returned to Walker County were he worked for Lee Henry Upholstery Shop. He finished his working career after 39 years with the Walker County Board of Education.Preceded in death by parents, John and Ruby Ridley Chambers; sisters, Jean Chambers and Velma Brown.Survived by loving wife of 55 years, Martha "Geri" Cannon Chambers; daughter, Camay Chambers-Wiley and husband, Tommy Wiley, of Chickamauga; brother, Charley Chambers, of Rossville; special niece, Jessica Young; grandpuppies, Holly and Chase; several nieces and nephews also survive.Graveside service 3 p.m. Friday in Garmany Cemetery Service conducted by Brother Philip Williams.Pallbearers are Paul Hentz, Luke Hentz, Jerry Snider, Jimmy Floyd, Lebron Kelley, James Stoker, Kirk Samsel and Joe Henry.Honorary pallbearers are, Wade Harp, Tommy Copeland Lamar Buckner, Will Smith, David Thurman, Billy Boyle and Gene Mayberry.The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 to 9 p.m today and Friday from 1 p.m. until service time.The arrangements are by Wallis-Wilbanks Funeral Home, of LaFayette.
