Barry Higginbotham

FORT OGLETHROPE Barry James Higginbotham, 67, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 4, 2012, in a local health care facility.He was a native and lifelong resident of the Chattanooga and north Georgia areas and was employed by Southern Paper Co. for many years and most recently was employed as a manager with Hardee's. Mr. Higginbotham was a member of East Ridge Masonic Lodge #755 F&AM, served as president of the residents council of NHC, was of the Baptist faith, and an avid Tennessee Vols fan.His parents, Jim Henry and Estella Gaddis Higginbotham, preceded him in death.Survivors include his daughters, Theresa (Mark) Schonhar, of Easley, S.C., and Cindy Hughes, of Fort Oglethorpe; sister, Patricia (Gene) Christian, of East Ridge; grandchildren, Drew, Megan and Josh Schonhar, Dylan and Gabrielle Hughes; nephew, John Higginbotham; two great-nieces and one great-nephew.Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. today at Hamilton Memorial Gardens, with Dr. James Sprayberry officiatingTo share expressions of sympathy, visit lane-southcrestchapel.com.A special thanks is extended to the staff at NHC-Fort Oglethorpe and Hospice of Chattanooga for their excellent care.Arrangements are by the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home & Crematory, located at the end of historic Missionary Ridge, Rossville.
