Willis Dietz

RINGGOLD Jon Willis Dietz, 85, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2012. He died in a local hospital from complications related to a fall.A native of Ringgold, he was born March 19, 1927, and graduated from Berry Academy, North Georgia College and the University of Georgia. He was a teacher and principal in Catoosa County and served as Catoosa County School Board chairman. He later worked as an agent for State Farm Insurance for 33 years and served as chairman of the board of Northwest Georgia Bank and as a director for 35 years. A charter member of the Boynton Lions Club, he was an active member for 60 years. He has been active in church all his life, teaching a mens Sunday School class and singing as a choir member, quartet member and soloist. He loved sports and was an avid golfer. He was devoted to his family and was a beloved husband, father and grandfather.He was preceded in death by his parents, John D. Dietz and Joyce O. Dietz; and brother, Paul T. Dietz.He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Martha Guess Dietz; three daughters, Jan (Don) Blazejewski, Jill (Raymond) Clark, and Joye Creedon; nine grandchildren, Clay Littlefield, Drew Littlefield, Katie Littlefield Byrd, Jonathan Clark, Will Clark, Lauren Regis, Peter Creedon, Josh Creedon, and Claire Creedon; seven great-grandchildren; and brother-in-law, Robert (Wynette) Johnson.Funeral services will be held at 1 p. m. Friday in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Brett DeHart and Rev.
