Jerry Locklear

Jerry Locklear, 68, of Chattanooga, passed away suddenly on Saturday, Nov. 10, 2012. A lifelong resident of the Chattanooga area, he was retired from Unum Provident with over 30 years of service. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Chattanooga. Jerry was a musician who loved music and singing in the church choir. Recently he enjoyed attending his 50th high school class reunion of City High School. He was the son of the late W.T. and Evelyn Locklear and was also preceded in death by a sister, Evelyn Lewis and two brothers, Delmar Pittman and Robert Locklear. He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Mary Ellen Locklear; sister, Dorothy (George) Gross, Hixson; brother, William (Marie) Locklear, Cleveland, Tenn.; sisters-in-law, Brenda Locklear, Cohutta, Ga., and Carol Chambliss, Hixson; mother-in-law, Aileen Davis, Hixson; several nieces and nephews and special great niece and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13, in the chapel of the First Presbyterian Church of Chattanooga with Rev. Chris Ehlers officiating. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Tuesday at the church. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions may be made to the Deacons Budget at First Presbyterian Church; Choices Pregnancy Resource Center at choiceschattanooga.org or to the charity of your choice.Arrangements are by the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory & Florist, 5401 Highway 153.
