Carl Cofer

RINGGOLD Carl Miller Cofer, 86, passed away Friday, Nov. 16, 2012.A native of Georgetown, Tenn., Carl has lived in the Ringgold area for the past 74 years. He was a former employee of Greased Lightning, a World War II veteran of the U.S. Navy where he served on the USS Bogue and a member of Ringgold First Baptist Church.He was preceded in death by his mother, Lucille Shamlin Landen; and father, French Cofer.He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Mildred Jay Cofer, of Ringgold; daughter, Donna (Eddie) Bomar, of Ringgold; sister, Jean Greene, of Ringgold; two grandsons, Tyson (Mary) Bomar and Kelly (Jamie) Bomar; two great-grandchildren, Devan and Cooper Bomar; three stepgreat-grandchildren several nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 18, 2012 at the Ringgold First Baptist Church with Dr. Dan Whitaker and Dr. Bruce Sloan officiating.Interment will follow at Anderson Cemetery.The family will receive friends from 3-9 p.m. today and until 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Georgia Baptist Children's Home.An online register book may be signed at www.wilsonfuneralhome.com.Arrangements are by Wilson Funeral Home, Wallis-Stewart Chapel, Ringgold.
