Wallace Thurman

Wallace Robert Thurman, of Harrison, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2012. He was 88 years old.Wallace was born in Meigs County and raised in Dayton, Tenn. He served our country during the Korean War, serving in the U. S. Army. He was a longtime resident of the Harrison area and retired from TVA with over 40 years of service. Wallace was a deacon at Denny Hill Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian Mae Thurman; mother, Cora Mae Thurman Moore; brother, Walter "Junior" Hicks; sister, Helen Vitch and his grandfather who helped raise him, Jesse Carroll Thurman.Wallace is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Robert "Bruce" and Vicki Thurman; granddaughter, Hope (David) Dodson; grandson, Robbie Thurman; great-grandchildren, Cassie and David Dodson Jr.; sister, Carolyn Ezell; many nieces and nephews.The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. today, Nov. 24, and 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 25, at the North Chapel.Services for Wallace will follow at 4 p.m. on Sunday at the North Chapel with the Rev. David A. Evans officiating.
