Cathy Stancil

Cathy Hawk Stancil, 59, passed away Friday, Nov. 23, 2012, surrounded by her family and her devoted dog, Max.She was born and raised in Chattanooga. Cathy had worked as a nurse since 1976 and retired from Chattanooga Skin and Cancer Clinic after 25 years of service. She graduated from Central High School and Chattanooga School of Practical Nursing in 1976. Cathy was helped through her journey by her devoted East Brainerd Church of God prayer group, "Joyce".She was survived by her husband of 43 years and love of her life, Donald W. Stancil; two beautiful, precious children, Chad Jeffrey Stancil, of Clarksville, Tenn., and Chrissy Jenea (Nick) Hallums, of Sparta, Tenn.; devoted sister, Judy Turner, of Maryville, Tenn.; and niece Kim Sperin, of Maryville, Tenn.She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank A. Hawk Sr. and Helen Williams Hawk; and a brother, Frank A. Hawk Jr., all of Chattanooga.She is now in the presence of Jesus and asking Him to hold the hands of her loved ones, her husband and love of her life, Don; the most beautiful and precious children a mom could ever have, Chrissy and Chad and her precious sister Judy who has been her rock through it all.Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Monday at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, 404 S.Moore Road.Burial will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery.The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.Please share your thoughts and memories at www.ChattanoogaEastChapel.com.
