John Lanham

Rev. Sr.Rev. John S Lanham Sr., 93, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, Nov. 24 2012. He served his beloved country in WWII and was a retired Captain of the Hamilton County Sheriffs Department. Mr. Lanham was the owner of Lanhams Bible Bookshop. All of these were in service to others, but his ultimate call to serve was in 1957, to be a minister at Pine Hill Cumberland Presbyterian Church, Hayes Memorial, and then founded and built Calvary Bible Church, where he pastored for 35 years and remained as Pastor Emeritus until he went to be with the Lord.Rev. Lanham was preceded in death and has joined his wife of 68 years, Ruth Lanham, in glory.He is survived by his son, Johnny Lanham Jr.; daughter, Lynda Lanham; brother, Joe Lanham; seven grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.A celebration of Johns' life will be held at Calvary Bible Church at 6 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 2 , 2012.In lieu of flowers, John requested donations be sent to Calvary Bible Church to continue the ministry he founded and cherished so much at Calvary Bible Church, PO Box 15506, Chattanooga, TN 37415.Life verse: "He must increase, I must decrease."
