Hazel Zachry

LaFAYETTE Hazel Owens Zachry, 100, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2012.She was preceded in death by her husband, Bethel O. Zachry; her son, Ray Zachry; and parents, L.R. and Rosa Lee Owens.She was born on Feb. 1, 1912 in Chattanooga. She attended school at Livingston Academy in Livingston, Tenn., where she met and married her sweetheart, Bethel Zachry. Hazel retired from Hamilton National Bank with 23 years of service. She was a member of St. Andrews Methodist Church, the Russell Tate Sunday School Class and Evangeline Chapter Order of Eastern Star. Hazel will be remembered for her love for Christ, the church, family and friends.Survivors are her daughter, Debbie Zachry Phillips and husband, Jack, of LaFayette; sister, Delores (Don) Farmer, of Cleveland, Tenn. She was a beloved grandmother to six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.Funeral from the Wallis Memorial Chapel to celebrate Hazels life at 2 p.m. Monday with pastor Randy Avans officiating.Interment: Chattanooga Memorial Park Cemetery.Pallbearers: Edward Mitchell, Rodger Farley, Chris Mitchell, Rickie Foster, David Choate and Chip Farley.Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the American Heart Association.Visitation at the funeral home from 5-8 p.m. Sunday and on Monday from noon until service time.Arrangements are by Wallis-Wilbanks Funeral Home, LaFayette.
