Caroline McPherson

BRIDGEPORT Caroline Marie Payne McPherson, 59, formerly of Birmingham, Ala., passed away Saturday, Sept. 29, 2012, at her home.Ms. McPherson was a Bridgeport, Ala. native. She graduated with the 1971 class of Bridgeport High School. She received an associate degree from Northeast Alabama Community College. Carol was an avid reader, a classic movie buff, and a loyal fan of the Atlanta Braves. She was active in Republican politics and did extensive research in her familys genealogy."Aunt Carol" adored her seven nieces and 11 great-nieces and nephews. She leaves behind her beloved companion, Jerry Gray.She was a member of the Church of Christ.Ms. McPherson is survived by her mother, Barbara Payne; sisters, Aldonna (Wayne) Crabtree, DeAnn Day, Jean (Steve) Cooper, Delia Russell; one brother, Bill (Carol) Payne all of Bridgeport, Ala. She was blessed with several devoted aunts, uncles, and cousins.She was preceded in death by her father, William B. Payne and brother-in-law, Ralph Bay; grandparents, Millard and Annie Pearl Matthews and John O. and Delia Payne.Visitation will be today, Oct. 2, from 3-9 p.m. from the Valley Funeral Home in Stevenson.Memorial services will be announced later.In lieu of flowers the family request memorials be made to St. Judes.
