Lucille Hurst

DAYTON Lucille Ward Hurst went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Saturday night Oct. 6, 2012 at the age of 97. She was born June 21, 1915 in Dayton to the late William and Jeanette (Burdette) Ward. She was a member of the Dayton First Baptist Church where she taught the Bethany Sunday School class for several years. She was a loving, nurturing Mother who enjoyed caring for her family, cooking, sewing, gardening and Bible study.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Clark Hurst; adopted mother and father Addie Stinnett (Mamie) McDonald and William McDonald; three brothers Harry Ward, Earl Ward and Charlie Ward; and six sisters, Joanna Hard, Mary Held, Dorrah Sherril, Renda Worthington, Omma Ward and Ollie Wilkey.She is survived by her daughters Jeanelle (Roy) Davis, Martha Gates, Amelia Hurst and Sue (Fred) Roddy, all of Dayton and Margie (Wilbert) Paschal, of Franklin; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and her loving friend and caregiver Jan Jacobsen, of Sale Creek.A celebration of her life will be held in the chapel of the Vanderwall Funeral Home Tuesday, Oct. 9 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Mike Breeden officiating.
