C. Michael Ramsey, 63, of Chattanooga died on Thursday, Oct. 11, 2012.Mr. Ramseys life-long love and passion was the hosiery industry. He started in the textile industry with his father, Mr. Frank L. Ramsey, in 1969 at Willwear Hosiery. Leaving Willwear, he founded Marathon Mills, which was destroyed by fire. Again joining his father in 1981, the two established FLR Hosiery. In 1996 he founded ABC Hosiery where he was joined by his sons, John and Nicholas. He served on the board of FACES and also served as Vice President of Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, where he was a member.He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank L. and Wilma Campbell Ramsey.Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Karen Ellis Ramsey; sons, Nicholas Ellis Ramsey, John Michael Ramsey (Sarah); two grandchildren, Ellis "Elle" Barbara and Mac Michael; sister, Brenda Ramsey Lee (Jim); sisters-in-law, Suzie Ellis Reese (Don), of DeFuniak Springs, Fla., Constance Ellis Hawkins (Tom), of Baton Rouge, La.; nephew, Augustus Hawkins; nieces Mallory Hawkins and Anne Hawkins.Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 15, 2012, at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 722 Glenwood Drive, Chattanooga, with Father Stavros Ballas officiating.Interment will follow the ceremony at Chattanooga Memorial Park. John Vlasis, Tommy Clay, Ian Hamilton, Marion Beacham, Robert Anderson and Van Kelly will serve as pallbearers.The family will gather with friends for visitation at Hamilton Funeral Home from 2-6 p.m. today.
