Sr.RINGGOLD George E. McCallie Sr. "Edward Ellis", 81, passed away Monday, Oct. 15, 2012.He was a lifelong resident of North Georgia, was a 1950 graduate of Rossville High School, was a member of the Mowbray Baptist Church, and attended the New Covenant Baptist Church. Mr. McCallie was a painter for the Southern Railroad for 37 years, retiring in 1993. He was a United States Army veteran having served during the Korean War. He was also a member of the VFW Post 3679 and the 2nd Infantry Division of the Korean War Veterans Alliance. He was a Mason and a member of the Tompkins Lodge 466 F&AM.He was preceded in death by his parents, Jerry and Emma Ellis.Survivors include his wife of 59 years, June M. McCallie; two children, Debbie McCallie Blackwell and husband Robert Blackwell, of East Ridge and George E. McCallie Jr., of Ringgold; two brothers, Tom McCallie, of Red Bank and J.B. McCallie, of Jacksonville, Fla.; sister, Bunny McCallie, of Rossville; two grandchildren, Jayson Tyler Mitchell, of Ringgold and Breanna Faith Stewart, of Sequatchie County; two great-grandchildren, Brandon and Knox Mitchell; and several nieces and nephews.Condolences may be sent to www.lane-southcrestchapel.com.Funeral services will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. in the South Crest Chapel with Pastor Mike Gregg officiating.Interment will follow in Chattanooga National Cemetery with Full Military Honors.The family will receive friends from 2-8 p.m. today and from 11 a.m. Thursday until the funeral hour at the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home and Crematory, located at the end of historic Missionary Ridge, Rossville.
