Roger Sellers

TUNNEL HILL Roger Lewis Sellers, 68, died peacefully at his home after a long and valiant battle with pancreatic cancer early Tuesday morning, Oct. 9, 2012, surrounded by his loving family.He was born on Jan. 12, 1944, in Thomasville, Ga. He and his family moved to Ringgold, Ga., when he was a child and he remained there throughout his life. As a young man, Roger began his working career as a long haul truck driver. Through experience and hard work, he became a respected diesel mechanic. He was employed long term through E.L. Pate Trucking Co. and Hasty Trucking Co. He retired in 2010 as owner/operator of Roger Sellers Trucking Co. He was a man of many talents and could do anything from construction to auto/diesel mechanics to problem solving for all who needed him. Roger was a man's man and was respected by all. He earned that respect through his highly regarded work ethic and his sense of fairness. His word was his bond.He was preceded in death by his parents, George William Sellers and Eliza Jenkins Sellers; his first born child, Debbie Sellers; his brother, G.W. Sellers Jr.; and his sister, Ruth Sellers Coker.He is survived by his wife and loving companion of 47 years, Louetta Miller Sellers; children, Roger Anthony Sellers; Lisa Marlene Sellers Roche, and husband Jim; Ronny Alan Sellers, Stacy Robin Sellers, and husband Jonathan; grandchild and light of his life, Christina Alana Sellers; siblings, Sam Sellers and Joyce Sellers Romines; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Bobby and Sue Goins and Mary Parker; and many special aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.Special family and friends who brought daily comfort during this difficult time; Eb Sellers, Billy Sellers, Leon Sellers, Margie Sellers, Ray Sellers, and the late Roy Lee Keeler.A "Celebration of Life" will be held from 1 to 8 p.m., on Saturday, Oct. 20th, 2012, at 694 Tunnel Hill Road.Abiding by his wishes, there will be no visitation.An online register book may be signed at www.wilsonfuneralhome.com.
