GREENVILLE, S.C. John G. Lindsay, 76, formerly of Stevenson, Ala., died Thursday, Aug. 30, 2012.He was born April 3, 1936.He was a graduate of Stevenson High School and Auburn University. He was employed by and retired from Sears & Service Merchandise.Mr. Lindsay was preceded in death by his parents, William "Bill" and Mary Clara Lindsay; brother, Tommy Lindsay; sister, Billie Lindsay Purdy; niece, Renee Purdy.He is survived by a niece, Karen Purdy Kirkland and husband, Mike, of Scottsboro, Ala.; nephew, Barrion Purdy, of Bridgeport, Ala.; great-niece, Casey Mayes and husband, Mark; their children, Cody and Riley, of Nashville; special friend, James Cassell, of Greer, S.C.A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. CDT Saturday Sept. 8, 2012, at Rudder Funeral Home, in Stevenson, Ala.
