Bonard Hamby

Bonard 'Wayne' Hamby, 71, was called home on Friday, Sept. 7, 2012 to be with his Lord and Savior. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Patricia Carolyn Gaskin Hamby, of Hixson, Tenn.; daughter Lisa (Richard) Schmitt, of Hixson, Tenn.; son, Patrick Wayne (Gloria) Hamby, of Ooltewah, Tenn.; his grandsons, Joshua Wayne Schmitt, Brandon Cory Schmitt, and Tyler Dane Schmitt, all of Hixson, Tenn.; sister, Erma Dean Clifton, and brother, James Arvil (Patricia) Hamby both, of Boaz, Ala.; and many nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.He is preceded in death by his parents, James Roy Hamby and Effie Prance Hamby; brother, Joda Windell Hamby; and brother-in-law, William Clifton.Bonard Wayne attended Boaz High School (class of '59) of Boaz, Ala. He continued his education at Auburn University graduating in 1964 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering.After a long and fulfilling career of 23 years, he retired from T.V.A.An active member of Abba's House - Central Baptist Church of Hixson, Tenn., he was also was a faithful regular volunteer in the media department.Bonard Wayne enjoyed many hobbies including fishing, woodworking, and gardening, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family.He was the most caring and loving husband and father to his children. He was a role-model, mentor, and best friend to his three grandchildren. He loved and lived life to the absolute fullest. Family always came first and foremost. He was a friend to everyone.Visitation is today, Sept. 10 from 5-9 p.m. Funeral services are at Beulah Baptist Church of Boaz, Ala., on Tuesday, Sept. 11, at 2 p.m. where he will also be lying in state from 1-2 p.m. Officiating over the services will be Tony Holcomb and Tony Gaskin.Arrangements are with Albertville Memorial Chapel of Albertville, AL.
