Martin Brick

LOGANVILLE, Ga. Martin R. Brick, 83, passed away peacefully Friday, Sept. 21, 2012 after a trying last month of his life. He was born in Lowell, Mass., and previously lived in Chattanooga, Tenn. The former pin boy at Boston City Club went on to bowl a perfect 300 game. The Brick family were members of the OLPH Church in Chattanooga and St. Oliver Plunkett in Snellville, where he was formerly a member of the Knights of Columbus. Marty was an avid golfer and enjoyed each and every round, whether playing with his sons or his friends at Summit Chase Golf Club, where he was a member for over twenty years. He was a Korean War era veteran of the United States Air Force, where he rose to the rank of staff sergeant. Upon leaving the air force he returned to the last job he would ever have at Container Corporation of America. His time with CCA took him, his wife and three sons from Boston to Chattanooga and finally for him, Rosemary and youngest son Stephan to Stone Mountain, Ga. His time at CCA was rewarding both personally and professionally. It gave him a lifetime of experiences and friends, many of whom would still tell you today, "He was simply the best." A claim he would on occasion, refute. He enjoyed his many travels and vacations throughout his life. Whether it was flying around the world with the USAF, family trips to the coast with his immediate family or the Brick's all-out assault on Vegas with any combination of nieces, nephews and his brother Jack, it was a life well lived, usually with a smile on his face or doing something to put a smile on someone else.In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of over 49 years Rosemary; son Stephan; brother Bill; sisters Georgie, Teresa and Betty. Survivors include, brother Jack; son Larry and Betty Brick, of East Ridge, Tenn.; son Jim and Sandy Brick, of Chattanooga; granddaughter Kathleen and grandson Patrick both, of Snellville; daughter-in-law Martha Brick Gorun also, of Snellville and many nieces and nephews who love and miss him. The family will receive friends today, from 6-8 p.m. at Eternal hills Funeral Home.Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept 25, at Eternal Hills Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to The Wounded Warrior Project. Eternal Hills Funeral Home, 770-972-3155.
