Edward Gubish

Edward J. Gubish, 80, of Hixson, passed away Wednesday, April 10, 2013, at his home.Ed was born in Hellertown, Pa., and was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Mary Gubish; brother, Lawrence; sisters, Mary, Grace, Agnes and Irma; and son, Edward.He served in the United States Air Force for four years and worked at the Bethlehem Steel Co. for seven years, then Serfass Corporation for two years and transferred to Riviera Beach, Fla., where he was employed for 30 years at Milton Roy/Lab Data Control. He then was employed at St. Mary's Hospital in West Palm Beach, Fla., for five years where he retired.Ed was a faithful church member, served as vice president at Christ the King Lutheran Church, Largo, Fla., director of trustees at Faith Lutheran Church, North Palm Beach, Fla., member of property board at Advent Lutheran Church, Orange Park, Fla., and Trinity Lutheran Church in Hixson. He also served as church usher for many years. He enjoyed traveling, working outdoors, keeping his and his families automobiles in good repair and helping his neighbors and working at Green Cove Springs, Florida Food Pantry.Survivors include his loving wife of 58 years, Nancy Chontofalsky Gubish; daughters, Linda (Jim) Dalzell and Lori(Glenn, deceased) Weisner; grandchildren, Valerie (Nick) George, Shawn (Faith Loveless) Weisner, Jimmy (MeChelle) Dalzell and Lisa Hommen; great-grandchildren, Madalyn, Camden, Sidney and Alexis; brothers, Charles Gubish and William (Joan) Gubish; sister, Helen Barbarics; and many nieces and nephews.Family and friends are invited to call at Trinity Lutheran Church, 5001 Hixson Pike, Hixson, TN on Saturday, April 13, 2013, between 9:30 and 10:30 a.m. followed by funeral services at 11 a.m. also at the church.Interment will be in Hellertown, Pa.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church or Hospice of Chattanooga.Visit www.lanefh.com to share condolences.
