Mildred Elaine Johnson, 69, of Chattanooga, passed away Sunday, April 7, 2013, in a local hospital.She was born Jan. 13, 1944 to Mildred Christine Fuller and Monroe Jones Sr. She received her education from Howard High School. She received her cosmetology degree at Edmondson College. She accepted Christ at an early age. She was self-employed as a full-time cosmetologist at Elaine's Beauty Salon.She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Johnson. She leaves to cherish her memories one son, Bobby (Maggie) Ransom, of Phoenix, Ariz.; two daughters, Arleasea Ransom and Tonya Johnson, both of Chattanooga; mother and stepfather, Mildred and Fred Smith; six grandchildren, Jacinta, Deont, Donald, Lateefah, Garrian, Talesia. all of Chattanooga; nine great-grandchildren; brothers, Monroe (Patricia) Jones, Kenneth (Cheryl) Smith, Freddie (Mary) Smith, all of Chattanooga, and Derek Phillips, of Detroit, Mich.; sisters, Barbara Collins, Gloria (Willie) Chambliss, Brenda (Willie) Ballard, Sheridan Smith, Jennifer Smith, Terrell (Johnny) Reese, and Carla (Leroy) Mason, all of Chattanooga; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins; other relatives and friends.The body will lie in state after 1 p.m. today at Taylor Funeral Home.Funeral services will be at noon Friday at Greater Community Church of Chattanooga COGIC with Elder C.H. Douglas as the eulogist.Burial: Forest Hills Cemetery.
