Edward Forbes

Edward James Forbes, 90, passed away Saturday, July 27, 2013, at Soddy-Daisy Health Care Center.Edward was born in Chicago, Ill., and after completing High School he joined The United States Army and served in World War II; Edward was a 2nd Lieutenant Flight Instructor and flew twin engine planes.In Chicago he worked as a sales manager for Gifford Hill and Master Builders Inc.Previously he lived in Lagrange, Ill., before moving to Chattanooga in 1996.He was an avid antique car collector and belonged to the Salt Creek, Ill., Chapter of the Model A Ford Club of America; and the Chickamauga Region Antique Automobile Club in Tennessee.Edward was preceded in death by his parents, James Harry and Emily Caloun Forbes; brother, Kenneth Forbes; and sister, Norma Jacobson.Edward is survived by his wife of 66 years, Grace Margaret (Marge) Forbes, of Chattanooga; daughters, Debie (Rick) Mikel, of Chattanooga, and Jamie (Rick) Dell, of Hixson; sons, Mark (Cindy) Forbes, of Lawrenceville, Ga., and Dean (Carol) Forbes, of Tarpon Springs, Fla.; brother, James (Nancy) Forbes, of Orlando, Fla.; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.The family will receive friends today, Aug. 3, from noon-2 p.m. at Chattanooga Funeral Home-North Chapel.Graveside Services for Edward will be conducted at 2 p.m. today, Aug. 3, at Hamilton Memorial Gardens with the Rev.
