RINGGOLD Gary Lamar Alverson, 73, passed away on Sunday, Aug. 4, 2013, with his family around him.Gary was a lifelong resident of the Chattanooga/North Georgia area. He was a graduate of Lakeview High School, Class of 1956, where he was an all-state quarterback on the football team. Gary owned and operated Acme Industrial Piping for over 30 years. He was a member of the Battlefield Golf and Country Club. Gary was a lifetime member and past president of the Mechanical Contractors Association. A charter member of B.A.S.S., he was a professional fishermen on their tour and on the F.L.W. tour. Gary was a member of the Walking Horse Booster Club. Gary was a member of Newnan Springs United Methodist Church.Gary is survived by his wife of 53 years, who was his high school sweetheart, Lois Ann Wheeler Alverson; his daughters, Angie Alverson (David) Cathey, of Franklin, Tenn., Amy Alverson (Charles) Faulkner, of Ringgold, and Mandy Alverson (Chris) McKnight, of Ringgold; his grandchildren, Tucker Cathey, Riley Cathey, Anna Grace Cathey, Wheeler Owens, Thomas Owens, Macy Ann McKnight, Nelson McKnight, Elijah Faulkner and Cayden Faulkner; his brothers, Dewey Wheeler (Joyce Winton) Alverson Jr., of Gainsville, Ga., and Wayne (Sonja Grant) Alverson, of Ringgold; several nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today, Aug. 7, in the chapel of Heritage Funeral Home, Battlefield Parkway. Rev.
