Albert Adams

Albert "Al" Adams passed away peacefully with his wife and soul mate, Janice, by his side, after a long and brave battle with cancer on Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2013.Before retiring to Hixson in 1997, He served his country for 20 years in the USAF. After retiring from USAF, Al continued government work at Nellis AFB Las Vegas as an inspector for 22 years.After moving to Hixson, he joined a senior golf league at Montlake Golf Course where he especially enjoyed golfing with his friend Bill Lewis. His other joy in life was taking his wife Janice fishing.He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Gwen Buhk, of Oklahoma.Al is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Janice (Shellenburg) Adams; sister, Helen Flinn, of West Virginia; nieces, Vicky (Mike) Ford, of Ohio. Kelley Freeman, of Chattanooga; nephew, Clinton (Gail) Ringwald, of Oklahoma; brother-in-law, Jerry (Cathye) Shellenburg, of Chattanooga; several great-nieces and nephews; special friend, Sue Cahill and family of Chattanooga; other friends and extended family.The family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. Brooke Daniel for her devoted medical care for many years, as well as, the 3rd floor nursing staff at Memorial of Hixson, especially, Stacy and Emily, Keri.The family has suggested in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a cancer charity of their choice.Graveside services will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 9, at Chattanooga National Cemetery with Rev.
