Herman Olvey

Herman Olvey, of Hixson, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, Aug. 12, 2013. He was 73 years old.Herman was born and raised in Isabella, Tenn., and was a longtime resident of the Chattanooga area. He retired from Candlewick Yarns in Ringgold, Ga., with 43 years of service. Herman was a member of Friendship Baptist Church of Hixson.He was preceded in death by his wife, Darla Olvey; mother, Faye Olvey; and a brother, Stanley Olvey.Herman is survived by his two children, Tami (Bill) Friar and John (Angela) Olvey; four grandchildren, Phillip Friar, Austin, Alexis and Jacob Olvey; several nieces and nephews.The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. today and 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Thursday at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.Services for Herman will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday at the funeral home chapel with Pastor Michael Combs, Jr. officiating.Burial will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.Please share your thoughts and memories at www.chattanooganorthchapel.com.Arrangements are by the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory & Florist, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson.
