Anita Stevens

Anita I. Stevens, 70, of Ooltewah, passed away Saturday, Aug. 17, 2013 at her residence. She was born Dec. 30, 1942, in Gothenburg, Sweden. She arrived in the U.S. in 1961 to work at the Gesell Institute of Child Development with Dr. Frances Ilg. In 1965, she married William Bryant Stevens in San Francisco, Calif., whom she was preceded in death by last year. She loved playing Bridge and knitting and was ever the gracious hostess. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Audrey (Brent) Smith, Ooltewah; grandchildren, Taylor and Victoria Smith; three sisters, twin sister, Gunilla McKinley, Minnesota, Viveca Farnsworth, and Lillemor Reynolds, both of California; brother, Thomas Larsson, Sweden; two half sisters, Therese Aveschong, Sweden and Mia Larsson Papailiou, Greece. In lieu of flowers the family request that memorial contributions may be made to Memorial Hospital Center for Cancer Support, 605 Glenwood, Drive, Suite 307, Chattanooga, TN 37404. A celebration of life service will be held at the Mulberry Park Club House, Collier Place, Ooltewah, TN on Tuesday Aug. 20, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Arrangements are by the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory & Florist, 7414 Old Lee Highway.
