James Letson

James Dallas Letson, 81, a resident of Chattanooga, Tenn., passed away on Tuesday Nov. 26, 2013 at his home. James was born in Scottsboro, Ala., on Aug. 4, 1932 a son of the late John and Francis Letson. As a small child his family relocated to the Chattanooga area and he has made it home for the majority of his adult life. James was an honorable discharged veteran of the United States Army after faithfully serving his country. He was a retired truck driver who enjoyed working hard at his job. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by one son Melvin Letson; one granddaughter Kelly Pelfrey; and three brothers John K. Letson, Jessie Letson and Homer Letson. James leaves behind to cherish his memory one son James David Letson; two daughters Debra Kay Gothard and Cheryl Jean Frady, one step-daughter Elsie Shutting, one daughter-in-law Lassie Letson; four grandchildren Kimberly McClendon, Christine Letson, James Chad Letson and Jimmy Franklin Letson; and several great grandchildren. He is also survived by numerous other extended family members and a host of special friends. The family will hold a private memorial service at a later date.
