Naomi Oakes

Naomi Katherine Jones Oakes, 87, of High Point, N.C., passed away Thursday Nov. 28, 2013. A native of Chattanooga, Tenn., she has lived in High Point, N.C. for several years and is formerly of Florida. She is preceded in death by her husband, Mason Oakes; parents, Walter Stephen Jones, Sr. and Mattie Lee Lingerfelt Jones; three sisters, Bernice Jones, Ruth Slaughter and Thelma McKee and three brothers, Willard, William and Walter Jones Jr. She is survived by two daughters, Jan Peavy Manuel and Renee Peavy Chesson both of High Point, N.C.; sister, Betty Oakes, of Fort Oglethorpe, Ga.; six grandchildren, four great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday Dec. 3, 2013 at Chattanooga National Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
