Capt. James R. "Jimmy" Clemons, 87, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2013. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and a 30 year veteran and captain with the Chattanooga Police Department. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Liza McCoy; father, James Robert Clemons, Sr.; son, Gary Clemons; niece, Billie Carol Porter. Survivors include his wife, Rosie Pearl Clemons; children, Derrick and Isabelle Clemons, Shelia and Dwight Hill, Rodney and Ronald Clemons; daughter-in-law, Milver Clemons; step-children, Orene and Willie Bey, Stella Joyce and Bill Coleman, Linda and Michael Gooden, Van Kent and Kathy Jones, Morris Glenn and Lucia Jones; 28 grandchildren; 39 great grandchildren; 8 great-great grandchildren; two nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends. A funeral service will be held at Noon Tuesday, Dec. 3, in the funeral home chapel, Pastor Randy Peterson officiating. Interment: 1:30 p.m. at Chattanooga National Cemetery. The body will lie in state today after Noon at John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Avenue, 622-9995.
