Gene Studer

Gene D. "Cy" Studer, 77, went home to his Lord Monday, Dec. 2, 2013, at Hospice Care Center in Chattanooga, after a brief illness. He was born Sept. 21, 1936 in Sugarcreek, Ohio. He was the son of the late Walter and Cora Hostetler Studer. He was preceded in death by his son, Daniel Studer. Gene was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother to his family and an esteemed friend of many here in the Dunlap community where the family has resided for the past 52 years. He was retired from, Sequatchie Valley Coal and was the co-owner of Cumberland Transport Co. for 31 years. He attended Covenant of Christ Church and served in the Tennessee Air National Guard. He was an avid car restorer and member of the Dunlap Cruisers. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Jane Perkins Studer; daughter, Andrea (Charles) Gilbert; granddaughter, Lyndsey (Caleb) Johnson; great-grandson, Charlestyn Johnson; sister, Anna Lee Studer, all of Dunlap, Tenn.; numerous cousins in Tennessee and Ohio communities. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m CST Saturday in the funeral home chapel with Pastors Deana Lynn Tripp and Brandon Gates officiating. Burial will be in Sequatchie County Memorial Gardens.
