Norma Hines "KISSIE" Sturdivant, 61, entered into celestial peace on Saturday Nov. 30, 2013. She was christened Norma Jean Hines to the late Mr. and Mrs. Frank and Frankie Bentley Hines in Chattanooga, on June 2, 1952. Mrs. Sturdivant was raised in Chattanooga and educated in the public school system. She graduated from Howard High School with Honors in 1970. She attended the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga for three years. She later met and married her first and only love, Mr. Larry Lee Sturdivant, who preceded her in death after 10 years. She worked for the Tennessee Valley Authority for a number of years. She received her diploma in Medical Technician from Draughons College. Later she joined the World Wide Church of God and completed a Bible Study Course at Ambassadore College. She worked at a number of clubs and ended her employment years by having her own daycare, "KISSIES Kiddies". Mrs. Sturdivant was also preceded in death by her sister, Mrs. Katie Mae Jordan; both father and mother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph and Elizabeth Sturdivant; a sister-in-law, Deaconess Marlene E. Hinton; brothers-in-law, Ralph Jr., Thomas, Leonard, Benny, Donald, Freddy Sr., Roy Sr.; and many, many friends. Mrs. Sturdivant leaves to cherish her memory, a loving daughter, Ms. Sharma Neoca E. Hines; a granddaughter, Ms. Quatae Lari N. Swoope, both of Chattanooga,; two sisters, Mrs. Lois (Willie) Rucker and Dr. Emma (Minister Robert Cooley, both of Chattanooga; four sisters-in-law, Ms. Barbara Sturdivant, Ms. Charlene Smith, Pastor Carol Dixon and Mrs. Lillie Sturdivant, all of Chattanooga; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 6, 2013, at New Zion Baptist Church with the Rev. Robert Allen and Minister Robert Cooley officiating. Interment in National Cemetery. The body will lie in state after noon and the family will receive friends from 78 p.m. at John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Avenue, 622-9995.
